What I love about the DC area the most: I love DC now but didn’t love it when I first moved here. I grew up in Southern CA and the adjustment at first was a little tough at times. As I got out, and participated in cultural events, I started to love it more and more each day. What I love about DC now is the fact it is very much alive with culture and international flavor and it also happens to be one of the greatest places on earth to start a business. The area is optimistic, robust and booming with innovation. I used to think the face of DC was government and government contractors, but as I discover new people and new places, I realize DC is indeed the capital city of the world on many more levels. Its geographic proximity to the world makes it an ideal homebase for people like myself who do business on both sides of the planet.

About me: I am a publisher. I have been publishing I AM Modern Magazine for women for the last 3 years.
We have won The Entrepreneur of the Year Award during our first year in business and the following year, Best Product of the Year Award, given out by SBA. We believe we found the successful formula to running a magazine and print publication. Integrating new media into an old media is an experiment that proved to be successful. We are the publishers of the world’s one and only 100% reader generated magazine. At the end of 2010, we are going to be expanding our portfolio by adding a new magazine title to our lineup. Modern DC Business Magazine that will serve the local entrepreneur and corporate executive community with entertaining, inspiring and educational coverage, all while being 100% business-reader generated. Who understands business better then people running a business? I am also a filmmaker (actually went to film school) and in the midst of working on a project that I can’t reveal yet. More to come on that subject. I am a mom to two wonderful children and wife to Murat Aksu. I love to travel. I love to cook. I can’t read fiction. Addicted to FB. I am an optimist and have very strong intuition, almost psychic. My motto is, quick do it before you change your mind and common sense kicks in. I am free spirit, a dreamer and a doer.
